Sleep on the Water
Terms

Terms of Service.

The short version: book honestly, treat the boats and marinas with care, and follow the safety rules. Here are the details.

Last updated: July 17, 2026

1. What Sleep on the Water is

Sleep on the Water is a booking platform for overnight dockside boat stays. Boats remain docked at the marina for the duration of the stay — stays are not charters, and boats are not operated or moved during a booking.

Some listings are operated by Sleep on the Water directly and some by independent hosts. In both cases the booking is made through this site under these terms.

2. Bookings and payment

A booking is confirmed when payment is completed through our payment processor, Stripe, and you receive a confirmation number. Until payment completes, selected dates are held temporarily and are released automatically if checkout isn't finished.

Prices are set per night. The total shown at checkout is the full amount charged — there are no hidden fees.

You must be at least 18 years old to book, and the guest count may not exceed the listing's stated maximum.

3. Cancellations and refunds

You can cancel an upcoming trip from your account dashboard. Refund eligibility depends on how far in advance you cancel; where a refund applies it is returned to the original payment method.

If we or a host must cancel your booking (for example, for weather or a mechanical issue), you receive a full refund.

Severe weather can make a dockside stay unsafe. In that case we'll work with you to rebook or refund.

4. Guest conduct

Guests agree to follow the safety rules, the marina's rules, and any house rules in the listing. No open flames, no smoking aboard, and quiet hours as posted by the marina.

Guests are responsible for damage beyond normal wear and tear caused during their stay.

5. Hosts

Hosts must accurately describe their boats, keep their calendars up to date, and hold any insurance required for hosting overnight guests at their marina. Listings are reviewed before going live, and we may remove listings that don't meet our standards.

6. Liability

Staying aboard a docked boat involves inherent risks — moving decks, water, weather, and marina equipment. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sleep on the Water's liability for any claim arising out of a booking is limited to the amount paid for that booking.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date above reflects the latest revision, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
